No subtractions, just an addition, according to officials speaking for Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville.

Piedmont Healthcare has entered into an agreement with Humana Insurance Co. to participate in its Medicare Advantage plans on an in-network basis. As for the existing Medicare Advantage plans with other companies, they will all remain unaffected with the addition of Humana.

As for all existing Medicare Advantage plans accepted at the hospital prior to the end of the open enrollment period that ends Dec. 7, Piedmont Healthcare Media Relations representative Jim Taylor said, “There are no Medicare Advantage plans that are in-network that will be going out come Dec. 7. In fact, we’ve only added the new Humana plan. We have added to our accessibility to services for individuals with Medicare Advantage plans. This is a great time for those interested in both these plans and Piedmont to discuss their options with their insurance company.”

“We at Piedmont Healthcare are happy to announce some good news for Fayette County seniors, and others in the surrounding area, who wish to use Piedmont Fayette Hospital on an ‘in-network’ basis,” said Piedmont Fayette CEO Darrell Cutts. “Piedmont Healthcare has signed an agreement with Humana to participate in its Medicare Advantage plans. This means seniors who enroll in Humana’s Medicare Advantage plans (HMO, PPO, POS and PFFS) will be considered ‘in-network’ for 2012 when they use Piedmont Fayette Hospital, as well as Piedmont’s other three hospitals in Newnan, Atlanta and Jasper.”

Cutts in a recent letter added that physicians of the Piedmont Physicians Group and Piedmont Heart Institute Physicians also will participate in Humana’s Medicare Advantage plans.

Piedmont will continue to accept other Medicare Advantage plans that offer “out of network” benefits, as well as Medicare and Medicare Supplement plans, Cutts said.

Citing examples of other plans that will continue to be accepted without change, Taylor said, “Whether it’s Piedmont Fayette Hospital or Piedmont Newnan Hospital, we currently accept Humana Medicare Advantage Plans (HMO, HMO/POS, PPO and PFFS) in addition to the previous Kaiser Senior Advantage Plans. We also accept Medicare Advantage PPO plans, Medicare Advantage Private Fee-For Service Plans and Medicare Advantage HMO/POS Plans as part of those plans’ out-of-network benefits.”
