Nativity offers special services this week
The Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville will mark two special observances this week. At 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 2) the church will hold a service of remembrance and healing in giving thanks for family members and friends who have died. At the regular 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Nov. 6, the parish will celebrate “Newcomer Sunday,” with a special liturgy honoring new members of the congregation. All are welcome at both services. The church is on Antioch Road, just off Ga. Highway 92, south of downtown Fayetteville.
Vendors needed at Holy Trinity
Vendor applications are now being taken for Holy Trinity Catholic Church’s First Annual Holiday Bazaar set for Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday Dec. 11. Deadline is Friday for Greek pastry orders
Philoptochos Society (Friend of the Poor) of St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church is holding its annual Greek Pastry Sale in time for the holidays. Frozen Spanakopites (spinach/feta triangles in filo dough) and Tiropites (cheese triangles) are $10 per dozen. Baklava (sweet nut/filo layers) is $18 per dozen and Kourambiethes (butter almond cookies with powdered sugar) are $15 per dozen. Order by Nov. 4 at 770-487-0078 or email helenngeorge@comcast.net. Musical concert planned in Tyrone
Free Spirit Ministries will celebrate its 7th Anniversary with “An Evening of Opulence,” a musical concert featuring gospel comedian Stephon and live music from “Vision.” The event will be held on Nov. 5, at the Legacy Theater, 1175 Senoia Road, Tyrone. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.; the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for $25 at www.fsmwc.org.
Flat Creek will host holiday grief seminar
A seminar, “Having a Truly Merry Christmas,” managing grief during the holidays, will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, at Flat Creek Baptist Church, 161 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville. Coffee and registration will be at 8:30 a.m. and sessions begin at 9 a.m. There will be a break between sessions and dismissal will be at noon. Leave toys, food, clothing at CCC
Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 349 Kenwood Rd., Fayetteville, is a drop off point for Toys for Tots, non-perishable food and paper goods for Fayette Samaritans and is collecting coats and sweaters for the needy. Donors are asked to call in advance (770-460-9745) before dropping off any items to the church.
Holy Trinity offers special GriefShare session
“Surviving the Holidays” is a special GriefShare program to help those dealing with grief during the holidays. A special holiday devotional will be provided. St. Andrew’s annual fine arts fair coming up
St. Andrew’s in the Pines will host its Fine Art and Christmas Fair and ECW Golden Elephant and Bake Sale Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Parish Hall. 316 Peachtree Pkwy N., Peachtree City.The event will feature juried fine art and crafts including glass art, fine art, textiles, local honey, jewelery, hand-made cards, sweets, Christmas ornaments, rustic birdhouses and more. Woolsey plans 5k run to benefit missions
The First annual 5k run for Missions at Woolsey Baptist Church will be Saturday, Dec. 10. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a starting time for the 5k at 8:30 a.m. A 1k kid’s race begins at 8:10 a.m. Fees are: $20 (5k), $10 (1k) and $50 (family maximum.) Real Life Center needs donations
The Real Life Center, which operates a food pantry, has a continuous need for food/pantry items. Donations can be dropped off at the Real Life Center, 382 Senoia Rd., Tyrone, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. – noon, and Thursday evenings from 5-7 p.m. The center is sponsored and supported by several churches in the area.
