Mr. Jerry Nolan Carr, Sr., 71, of Fayetteville, passed away on Oct. 27, 2011.
Mr. Carr was a loving husband, father, and friend. At seventeen, he married his childhood sweetheart.
He worked for Sonoco Corporation for fifty years as an electrician. He was a godly man, who humbly served in many positions of responsibility in church throughout the years. Most recently he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, where he was a deacon and sang in the choir.
Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Yvonne Carr and his brother Leon Carr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carolyn H. Carr; son Jerry Nolan (Shelly) Carr, Jr. of Monticello; grandchildren, Cassie Phillips of Fayetteville, Jeremy (Tabitha) Phillips of Trion, Ga., Kalee Carr, and Jacob Car; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Eugene Carr; sister Betty Pharr; 2 nieces; 1 nephew; sister-in-law Myrtle Carr; church family and friends.
A funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Jonesboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Mel Blackaby and Rev. Dan Houston officiating. The burial followed at Westminster Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
