Two Powder Springs men were arrested Oct. 11 in Peachtree City after attempting to fraudulently draw a large amount of money from prepaid debit cards at the Walmart store, according to Peachtree City police.

When the men were stopped by officers after leaving the store, police found a large amount of cash in the vehicle along with unissued prepaid debit cards, receipts and newly activated debit cards.

The debit cards, it turns out, had been issued to persons other than the suspects, police said.

A subsequent search warrant at the suspects’ residence in Powder Springs turned up more cash and debit cards, police said.

The Secret Service was contacted and is assisting with the investigation, police said.

The incident began when Walmart employees became suspicious of the suspects’ activity and contacted police.

Police arrested Akpovoke Desire Idigu, 30 and Festus Odosageede, 41 during the traffic stop. Idigu was charged with two counts of identity fraud and obstruction of a police officer. Odosageede was charged with three counts of identity fraud, one count of obstruction of a police officer and one count of operating a vehicle without a license. Both were listed as living at a residence on Meadowlark Court in Powder Springs.

The investigation into the activity is ongoing and police expect to release more information in the future.
