The Joseph Sams School (www.josephsamsschool.org ), a private, non-profit organization serving special needs students in Fayetteville, was visited by over 40 sixth- graders from Sharpsburg-based Trinity Christian School (www.tcslions.org) on September 27th as part of that school’s community service project. During their visit to the school, the sixth graders observed and interacted with Sams School students, and then separated into groups to provide specific services to the Sams School. They performed yard work such as weeding, planting flowers and laying pine straw, and also worked in the library reorganizing and shelving books. The students from Trinity Christian also assisted teachers in making the individualized materials so many of the Sams School students require.

Marie Sams, Executive Director of the Joseph Sams School, spoke of the importance of such community service projects. “As a not-for-profit school, we rely heavily on community support, so the time and energy donated by the Trinity Christian School means a great deal to our organization. In addition, it was a wonderful opportunity for our students to interact with these sixth graders. This was truly a valuable and meaningful experience for everyone.”

Now in its 28th year, The Joseph Sams School, Inc. is a fully accredited, private, non-profit organization in Fayetteville, Georgia currently serving over 70 families of children who have mild to severe cognitive, physical or diagnosed developmental disabilities.
