Mrs. Lera Perkins, 88, of Fayetteville, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011. She fought a long battle with heart disease.

She was born Jan. 21, 1923 in Sabine County, Texas. She was the salutatorian of the 1940 class of Alto High School, and retired from Texas Industries in 1989. Lera was a member of FUMC, Beford, Texas.

She moved to Fayetteville in 2001. She was a member of Bridge Club groups of The Gathering Place. Lera was proudly a Certified Bridge Life Master.

She was married to William Perkins, who preceded her in death in 1966. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Dudley Haralson Sr., of Fayetteville; daughter, Khimberly Mauldin of Sevierville, Tenn.; granddaughter, Holly Haralson of Senoia, Ga.; grandson, Dudley Haralson Jr., and wife, Amy; great grandchildren, Cody Haralson, Haley Haralson, and Rachel Haralson; several special nieces and nephews; and other extended family.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City. A visitation will follow.
