Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally rolls into PTC Sept. 27

The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally and Race to Recover America’s Missing Children will be pulling in to Peachtree City on Tuesday, September 27. The Road Rally is an event filmed over eight days with participants stopping along the over 2,500 miles they travel to solve clues and complete missions, driving everything from Lamborghini’s to Camaro’s to the Time Car from Back to the Future. Think of it as Amazing Race meets motoring. While they are in Peachtree City the public will have the opportunity to meet the competitors and get up close to their unique vehicles at an event, Finish Line Frenzy, hosted by the Peachtree City Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

This year the Adventurally features notable drivers such as NASCAR legend Geoff Bodine, Space Shuttle Astronaut Winston Scott, as well as actor Kevyn Major Howard. The public is invited to meet these competitors and more as the cross the Finish Line in Peachtree City on Tuesday, September 27 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. The “Finish Line Frenzy” event will take place at Shakerag Knoll off McIntosh Trail. Competitors will arrive in the parking lot and spectators will be able to cheer them on as they complete one final task before crossing the finish line. This is a free event. Refreshments will be available for purchase with funds benefiting local Boy Scout Troop #175. In addition, Speedway Children’s Charity will be on hand collecting toys associated with speed as part of the event.

On Wednesday, Sept. 28, the public is invited to join with competitors at The Avenue at Peachtree City for the green flag ceremony as State Representative Matt Ramsey and other area leaders signal the rally’s departure to Knoxville, TN. The Fireball Run’s Race to Recover America’s Missing Children is the largest active recovery effort for missing and exploited children in the country. Each team is assigned a child from their home region along with thousands of posters to distribute along the route. A decal featuring the child is affixed to the vehicle, creating a rolling milk carton. To date, this effort has assisted in the recovery of 36 missing children.

The Fireball Run Adventurally is a national event and filmed production is headquartered at the NBC Universal Studios in Orlando Florida. The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally starts September 23rd on Florida’s Space Coast and concludes October 1st in the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
