Mom’s Circle at COS meets today
Moms’ Circle at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church meets for the first time this fall for brunch today from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the church. The Circle provides mothers an opportunity for fellowship and learning. “99 Ways to Raise Spiritually Healthy Children” by Kathleen Long Bostrom ($12) will be the basis for discussion. Childcare is provided at no charge for children age 3 and younger. Mothers of preschool and elementary-age children are invited every second Wednesday. For more information call 770-487-8717.

Learn about being Lutheran Thursday
Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City announces a series of Discovery Classes, which are full of information about the church’s ministries and beliefs. All are welcome — both those interested in the Lutheran Church and also the merely curious. The first class is Thursday evening, Sept. 15, at the home of Pastor Fritz Wiese. Forgiving Forward Seminar planned
Bruce and Toni Hebel will discuss God’s protocols for forgiveness and how one can teach others to forgive at the Forgiving Forward Seminar this Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Touching Hearts Ministries, 140 Kathi Avenue Suite D in Fayetteville. Kathi Ave. is just past McDonald’s off Ga. Highway 85 and Touching Hearts Center is in the PathFinders Plaza behind Michael’s. Parking is available at the Center or across the street. Edgefield Car Wash set for this Saturday
The Edgefield Church Family invites the entire community to participate in the Zion Youth Church Car Wash this Saturday, Sept. 17, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Donations will be accepted. Also the Shirley Thomas Cancer awareness team will sell fried fish dinners during the car wash. Edgefield is at 140 Church St. in downtown Fayetteville. PTCUMC’s Chicken-Que is this weekend
The PTCUMC United Methodist Men are joining together again for the seventh year with the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City for their annual Chicken-Que fundraiser this Saturday. Tickets may be purchased for $8 per plate. The dinner consists of one half grilled barbecue chicken, a side of baked beans, coleslaw and bread. Dinners may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the PTCUMC church Windgate campus, 400 Windgate Road at the intersection of Windgate Road and Peachtree Parkway. GreekFest planned in PTC Saturday
St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church invites the community to attend GreekFest 2011, Saturday, Sept. 17 from 6:30 until … at the Dixie Wing Commemorative Hangar at Falcon Field in Peachtree City. The event will feature live music and dancing, “All You Can Eat and Drink” Greek appetizers and salad, lemon chicken, pastitsio, and pastries, adult beverages and more. Youth Leadership to be celebrated at COS
Worship on Sept. 18 will celebrate youth leadership at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. The Clarinet Choir, made up of high school musicians, plays at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Middle School Puppet and Drama teams will lead in worship at 11a.m.. And “one50,” the high school praise band, will play at the 10:50 a.m. service. The church is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway.

Prayer group formed at Summit
A community prayer group is being formed at The Summit Family Resource Center, 1373 Ga. Highway 92 S. Fayetteville. The group will meet from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Thursday mornings. They will pray for schools, community and families. This is an inter-denominational event. Everyone is invited. Call 770-460-3335 for more information.

COS offers Disciple Bible study class
A new Disciple Bible study class on the book of Romans meets on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. It is taught by the pastors, staff and lay teachers. Interested students are invited. COS is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway.

Real Life Center needs donations
The Real Life Center, which operates a food pantry, has a need for specific items at present. Needed now are beef stew/chili, cereal/granola bars, jelly, juice, macaroni and cheese/ pasta with sauce, rice, tomato products, dried beans, ramen, and toilet paper. Donations can be dropped off at the Real Life Center, 382 Senoia Rd., Tyrone (old Mundy’s pharmacy building), Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. – noon, and Thursday evenings from 5-7 p.m. The center is sponsored and supported by several churches in the area.
