UPDATE: 8 p.m. Suspect located in attic of residence about five minutes ago

A K-9 team located a suspect hiding in the attic of a home on north Peachtree Parkway, leading to the suspect’s safe arrest shortly before 8 p.m. tonight.

Domenick Ray Gibbs was arrested for an outstanding warrant of one felony count of entering an automobile and one charge for violation of probation.

Shortly after 4 p.m. police surrounded a home at 412 North Peachtree Parkway in hopes of arresting Gibbs, who was believed to be armed.

In addition to the warrants for Gibbs’ arrest, police also are investigating another crime for which they want to speak with him, police said.

Police declined to divulge what other matter they are investigating in connection with Gibbs. Gibbs was located in a search of the house by K-9 officer Myke and his handler, Officer Johnson.

The incident began when two detectives went to the home to speak with Gibbs, but the homeowner claimed he was not there, police said.

Soon after, it was determined that Gibbs was indeed in the house, and because he was believed to be armed, the detectives backed out for their safety and Gibbs’ until the department’s Special Response Team (SWAT) unit could arrive, police said. There was some consideration that Gibbs might consider harming himself, officials noted.

For some time, Gibbs refused to come out of the house, officials said.
