The Federal Bureau of Investigation is asking for help in locating a Fayetteville man who is wanted on murder charges stemming from an incident in Atlanta Aug. 19.

Javaris Crittenton, 23 and a former NBA player, is believed to be in the Los Angeles, Calif. area where he is known to have family and friends, according to FBI officials.

Crittenton is accused in the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old woman which involved a dark-colored SUV driving by the location, firing an assault-type rifle.

The FBI has obtained a federal arrest warrant on Crittenton. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call their local law enforcement agency, the Atlanta FBI at 404-679-9000 or the Los Angeles FBI at 310-477-6565.

Crittenton has a bit of a checkered history with firearms, having been suspended from the league two years ago after a confrontation in the locker room of the Washington Wizards with teammate Gilbert Arenas in which both men possessed firearms.

The Citizen was unable to ascertain Crittenton’s local address in Fayette County, as he is not listed as the property owner of record in several databases.
