William K. (Bill) Cress, 75, of Fayetteville, entered into eternal rest to be with the Lord on August 2, 2011. He died of complications from acute leukemia. He was born May 3, 1936 in Butler, Tennessee. Bill graduated from Carson-Newman College in 1958 and entered the U.S. Army shortly after graduation. After serving his country, Bill started his career with Delta Air Lines in 1961. He spent most of his 33 years as an Internal Auditor for the airline. After retirement in 1994, he continued working for Delta as a contract employee for another 10 years. Bill lived his life caring for people around him. He was always there for anyone that needed him. He also cared for his dogs who were important to him. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean, and his sister Earlene Blevins, of Elizabethton, TN, nephew Mike Blevins, of Mountain City, TN, and great nephew and nieces. He was a member of McDonough Road Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Georgia.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 7:00 PM at McDonough Road Baptist Church, 352 McDonough Road, Fayetteville, GA. The Rev. Dr. J. W. Wallis will officiate. A graveside service will be held at Camp Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM prior to the service at McDonough Road Baptist Church, Fayetteville.
