Twenty-year-old Newnan resident Tramario Reese died July 3 as a result of injuries he sustained in a June 10 wreck when a Newnan woman in whose vehicle he was riding ran a stop sign on Rockaway Road and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Charges are pending in the accident.
Senoia Police spokesman Jason Ercole said the incident occurred on June 10 at 11:57 p.m. after Reese, 17-year-old driver and Newnan resident Angelica Williams and two other passengers left a graduation party at either the Twin Lakes or Heritage Pointe subdivisions.
Ercole said Williams was driving her vehicle on Blue Heron Boulevard but failed to stop at the intersection with Rockaway Road. Williams’ car was struck by an oncoming vehicle after her car had entered the roadway, Ercole said. The impact was essentially a T-bone crash, with most of the impact in the area directly behind the driver’s seat where Reese was sitting, said Ercole.
Reese sustained critical injuries from the impact and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, said Ercole, adding that Reese died on July 3 as a result of the injuries.
Others injured in the collision included the remaining occupants in Williams’ vehicle, though all three were treated and released the following day, Ercole said.
Ercole said the accident investigation showed no indication of excessive speed or alcohol use contributing to the collision. Charges in the case are pending, Ercole noted.
