Mr. William Callaway Henry, 83, of Peachtree City, died July 9, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse of 59 years Maxine M. Henry.
He is survived by his four sons Wm. Alan & Rebecca J. Henry, of Peachtree City; Keith E. & Kimberly E. Henry, of Baton Rouge, LA; Glenn D. & Dena G. Henry, of Killen, AL; Clifford E. & Cathrine A. Henry, of Media, PA; 12 grandchildren: Amy R. & J.J. Hollie, Emily C. & Christopher S. Tabb, Andrew P. Henry, Sarah E. Henry, David E. Henry, Patrick W. Henry, Rachel N. Henry, Daniel P. Henry, Wm. Phillip Henry, Michael Grant Henry, Chandler P. Henry, Bethany G. Henry & great-grandson Trey Hollie. He is also survived by his brother James Patrick & Patty Henry.
William was born in Athens, GA on December 5, 1927. In 1945 at the age of 17 William enlisted in Army Officer’s Candidate School at Fort McClellan, AL. He worked on the reconstruction of Japan after World War II. While in Japan he met Maxine, and they married when they returned to the U.S. He served in the Army Reserves for over 20 years and retired as a Lt. Colonel. William graduated from Georgia Tech University. He worked as an Industrial Engineer and General Manager for E.I. Dupont in Nashville, TN and Wilmington, DE, retiring in 1985. Maxine and Bill lived in Wilmington, DE for 40 years. He loved the Lord and was a Deacon at the Inglewood Baptist Church in Nashville, TN and Bethel Baptist Church in Wilmington, DE for many years. William and Maxine traveled extensively in the U.S. and across the globe. They lived in Ashley Glen Assisted Living Center in Peachtree City, GA.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM -1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive SW, Atlanta, GA.
