A Fayetteville man was charged June 20 with public indecency after being reported for exposing himself in his vehicle in the parking lot of the Kroger grocery store on South Glynn Street in Fayetteville.

Fayetteville Police spokesperson Steve Crawshaw said 45-year-old Alan Ponder was charged with public indecency and possession of a controlled substance.

Crawshaw said a couple had exited the grocery store at approximately 2 p.m. and were putting groceries in their vehicle. The couple said they witnessed Ponder masturbating in his vehicle and called police, Crawshaw said.

Officers arrived and interviewed Ponder who denied the allegation, said Crawshaw.

Officers subsequent to questioning the couple and Ponder charged him with public indecency and with possession of a controlled substance relating to the prescription drugs found in his vehicle, Crawshaw said.
