Mrs. Frances Foster Estes, age 90, passed away into the presence of her Savior, Jesus, joining her family and friends on May 29, 2011.

Frances was born in Fall River, MA on August 21, 1920. She graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence RI in 1941. She met her husband, Joe Estes, while he was stationed at the Quonsey Point, RI Naval Air Station during WWII. They were married for 66 years. They moved to Fayette County upon her husband’s retirement from Norfolk and Southern Corp. of Roanoke, VA in 1987. She was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Women’s Auxillary.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ruth Foster.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph H. “Joe” Estes, Sr., of Fayetteville; son Joseph Atley (Mary) Estes, Jr. of Nashville, TN; daughters Judith “Judy” (Tony) Estes-Merritt of Senoia, Bonnie Estes –Martin of Peachtree City; grandchildren, Joseph Atley Estes, Jr. of Memphis, TN, Joshua (Nikki) Estes of Boston, MA, Jason (Kate) Estes of Nashville, TN, Stacey (Rich) York of Sharpsburg, Ashley (Mickie) Warren of Moreland, Hunter Martin of Richmond, VA, Lauren Martin of Lexington, KY and Mallory Martin of Cincinnati, OH; great-grandchildren Amber York of Sharpsburg, Alex Estes of Nashville and Caleb Estes of Nashville;

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Overton Chapel of Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Reverend Glenn Stringham officiating. Mrs. Estes will lie in state at 10:30 AM. Friends will gather for burial at 2:00 PM at New Hope Methodist Cemetery, Alvaton, GA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gideon International Bible Fund, P.O. Box 498, Fayetteville, GA 30214.
