Mr. Richard Michael Deraney, Sr., long-time resident of Fayetteville, passed away May 27, 2011.
Mr. Deraney was born in Atlanta, GA on August 31, 1952 to the late Joseph A. Deraney, Sr. and Mable Lewis Deraney. He was a graduate of Troy State University and worked for Delta Airlines for nearly thirty years. Mr. Deraney’s life was dedicated to his family and the many sports and musical events they pursued.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Virginia (Ginger) DeVaughan Deraney; 3 sons Chris J. Deraney of Jonesboro, John Deraney and his wife Brittany of Newnan, and Richard Michael Deraney, Jr. of Fayetteville; granddaughter Peyton Elizabeth Deraney; mother Mable L. Deraney of Barnesville; brothers Stephen A. Deraney, Joseph A. Deraney, Jr., Robert c. Deraney, Sr., and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Father Tim Hepburn will officiate. The burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 7:.30 PM, with a rosary service at 7:30 PM.
