Mr. Melvin “Unce” Franklin Hestley, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away on May 17, 2011.
Mr. Hestley proudly served in the U.S. Army as an artillery mechanic and was a veteran of WWII. He loved to read, fish and had many other interests and was a friend to many. He was a long-time active member of the Masonic Lodge 82 and served as Past District Master of his lodge.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bina Loyless Hestley.
He is survived by his nieces, Gail H. Lanier of Ellijay, Sandra and Harold Harmon and family of Decatur and Andrea Hestley of Decatur; great-nieces Catrina and David Hartell and family of Fairmont, GA and Donna and Jay Allen and family of Jasper; great-nephews Jeffrey and Monica Lanier and family of Woodstock and Michael and Ashley Lanier and family of Sharpsburg; nine great-great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Jon Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Those who prefer may make donations in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
