Crossroads Chiropractic in Sharpsburg is joining forces to address a critical need right now in the Gadsden, Ala. community. Due to the recent outbreak of severe tornadoes, many people are living without the essential needs of daily living. It is difficult enough to have to see the destruction but to have to go without supplies and essential items is unacceptable.

“When I first heard about this I just couldn’t believe it. Right here in our neighboring community people are suffering. I just couldn’t accept that fact. My staff and I decided we had to do everything we could to make sure something as basic as toothpaste or shampoo was available for every child or teenager who needed them,” said Dr. Matthew Davis of Crossroads Chiropractic.

The “Bedtime Backpack” drive has been established by Jean Scott, a recovery nurse at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden to support the need for essentials by collecting a backpack filled with $25-$50 in supplies to help support these families.

Suggested items might include:

• For school-aged kids – pajamas, underwear, toothbrush/toothpaste, hairbrush, stuffed animal, small book or coloring book and crayons, or anything that will make them smile!

• For teens – t-shirts, hygiene items (all are needed), card games, flip flops, travel sized pillows or tote bag

Never has the need for supplies and essentials been so apparent. For each backpack collected Crossroads Chiropractic is offering one ‘Chiropractic Health Pass Certificate.’ This certificate can be used by you, or given to a friend or family member, for a complimentary consultation, state of the art computerized evaluation, x-rays (if needed) and a report of the findings; which is a $400 value. Due to federal guidelines, Medicare is excluded from this offer.

Donations for “Bedtime Backpack” will be received through June 30. A collection center has been established at the office of Crossroads Chiropractic, 3339 Hwy 34 E, Suite C in Sharpsburg Backpacks may be dropped off during regular office hours: Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m.–noon; 2:30- 6 p.m. For more information on the “Bedtime Backpack” drive please contact the staff at Crossroads Chiropractic, 770-252-1848.

“We are fortunate to live in such a caring community where the residents understand the importance of helping those in need. My staff and I are so excited about this program and we know we can count on the support of the community to make it successful.  It feels great to get involved but it’s the children and families who will be the real winners,” added Davis.
