It was another sign of the times, at least in terms of development, for business in Coweta County when ground was broken recently for a 125,000 square-foot medical office building on the campus of the new Piedmont Newnan Hospital on Poplar Road near I-85.

The medical office building will be attached by covered walkway to the 136-bed, eight-story replacement hospital under construction by Piedmont Healthcare. Piedmont Medical Plaza is scheduled to open in February 2012, prior to the hospital opening in the spring of 2012.

Piedmont Medical Plaza will be owned by a partnership, which includes Meadows & Ohly, LLC and physicians who are tenants of the building. The project was designed by Perkins & Will, Inc., and will be constructed by Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC, according to Meadows & Ohly spokesperson Christian Hauck.

“Piedmont Medical Plaza will provide a first-class environment for physicians and their patients, conveniently located to all of the Piedmont Newnan Hospital services,” said Meadows & Ohly president Thomas E. Rhodes. “We recognize that the project is significant to Coweta County as it improves access to quality healthcare, and it will create job opportunities now and in the future. We consider it a privilege to be a partner with Piedmont Healthcare in developing this campus.”
