A 19 year-old Peachtree City man was arrested April 9 on charges of committing two felonies and a misdemeanor after reportedly approaching several juveniles with fake cocaine then biting the officer attempting to take him into custody.

Corey McKoy, 19, of Peachtree City, was charged with sale of a counterfeit substance (felony), obstruction of an officer by injury (felony) and misdemeanor loitering.

Peachtree City Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove said the incident occurred April 9 at Luther Glass Park, also known as Three Ponds, located in the area of South Peachtree Parkway and Crosstown Road.

Dove said the initial call was for a suspicious subject attempting to sell drugs to children. When an officer arrived, the parent of one of the juveniles and several other juveniles were able to point out McKoy, who was still in the park, said Dove.

Officers were told that McKoy had been talking to the juveniles and showed them a bag containing a white powdery substance, said Dove, adding that McKoy allegedly informed the juveniles that it was crack cocaine and asked if they wanted to purchase it.

Dove said the officer approached McKoy, who denied the allegation. McKoy told the officer that he had a bag of flour that he was going to use to make muffins at a friend’s home, Dove reported.

While the officer was attempting to arrest McKoy, Dove said the 19 year-old fled the scene on foot after biting the officer on the thigh.

Dove said McKoy was found hiding a short time later and again failed to comply with the officer’s orders and, as a result, the officer deployed his Taser which resulted in McKoy laying on the ground and complying with the orders to place him hands behind his back, Dove said.
