Bernadine Ulaine Hilfiker passed peacefully March 26, 2011, at her home in Fayetteville, Ga.
She was born March 1, 1917, to Dr. and Mrs. Charles W. Ihle in Cleghorn, Iowa. She met her partner in life, Everett S. (Hil) Hilfiker, while working as a nurse at Pomona Valley Hospital, Ca. Their marriage lasted 68 years and produced three successful daughters. Bernie was active in her church, loved gardening, reading, literature, and flowers. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, and mother.
Bernie is survived by her husband; brother Roger Langford Ihle of Omaha, NE; daughters Ann Hilfiker King of Atlanta, Carol Dianne Howard and husband Ralph William Howard of Wamego, KS; and Dr. Mary Lenora Hilfiker of San Diego, CA; granddaughters Ellen Catherine Pappas of Tallahassee, FL, and Emily Lenora Parrish of Everett, WA; great-grandsons John Roberto Wertin and Joseph Cesar Wertin of St. Marys, KS; and great-granddaughter Lilian Khristine Parrish of Everett, WA.
