Tea Party takes over GOP? Not hardly

I would like to take issue with the headline in the March 16 issue of The Citizen which states, “Tea Party takes over Fayette GOP.”

At our recent county convention we elected a slate of s17 officers, nine of whom have served on previous Fayette County Republican Party executive boards.

Some of our newly elected officers have recently become involved with the FCRP, but have been very active in our county through other organizations: i.e., the Fayette Local Issues Tea Party and the Fayette/Coweta 9-12 Association.

I’m not sure where [Reporter] Ben [Nelms] got his information, but I would hardly call this a “take-over.”

Now, with the many serious issues facing our country, state, and county, I welcome everyone who will work to uphold the conservative values of our party to take an active role in the Fayette County Republican Party. Ours is the party of Abraham Lincoln; how could we not be inclusive?
