PTC’s aesthetic war lost long ago

I really am getting too old for this and have not written in a long while; but the plaque in my arteries was loosened a bit when I read the article about limiting “walking signs.”

The major reason, it would appear, is it is not in keeping with the aesthetic values of our city.

First of all, the aesthetic values of our city were compromised when some individuals decided to rent out their homes and then not come by, oh, maybe once a year, to see if the yard was being kept up, there were not 40 people living in the house and the spare tires were moved from the front yard periodically.

To those of us who look at this on a daily basis, seeing someone walking around dressed like the Statue of Liberty is not tacky at all.

Secondly, most of the time these folks are the only ones who will wave back when you wave a “hey” from your car.

Last of all, these are jobs for these individuals, jobs that are harder and harder to come by in this economic time. Geez, I give them a lot of credit for being on their feet all day so they can earn a decent living.

Don’t we have much more important things to worry about than this? I surely would think so.
