 The 10th annual Miss Starr’s Mill High School Scholarship Pageant was held recently at Willie Duke Auditorium. The scholarship pageant is a fundraiser for the SMHS drama department. Finalists for 2011 were, from left, Carolyn Balkovetz, 2nd Runner Up and the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from Dr. Jay Burney and Digestive Health Care of Georgia; Leoghain Strnad, 1st Runner Up and the recipient of a $1,500 scholarship from The Southern Federal Credit Union; Liz Buckalew, Miss Starr’s Mill 2011 and the recipient of a $2,000 scholarship from Dr. Scott McPherson; Carly Baker, 3rd Runner Up and the recipient of $600 scholarship from Chick-fil-A; and Kaitlyn Fultz, 4th Runner Up and the recipient of a $400 scholarship from Chick-fil-A. The top 10 finalists also included Sarah Burney, Triana Browne, Amy Docalavich, Lindsay Quandt and Kathryn Anderson. Docalavich received the $500 Zach Stutts Thespian Performing Arts Scholarship.
