Young people at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville will serve a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper at the church parish hall from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8.
A free-will offering will be received. Funds raised will help finance a mission trip June 19-25. Six young people and four adults will spend that time in Lexington, N.C., repairing homes of elderly and disabled residents. Last summer, a group from Church of the Nativity spent a week on a similar project in southern Illinois.
The Shrove Tuesday event is a traditional meal served at the close of the liturgical season of Epiphany to prepare for the beginning of the penitential season of Lent the following day.
