Walter Eugene “Gene” Pierce, age 72, of Fayetteville, died Friday, February 18, 2011.
Mr. Pierce was a member of the Georgia Outsiders Car Club and enjoyed attending the club meetings. He also enjoyed classic cars, hot rods and attending car shows, swap meets and auctions. However, he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and boating on Lake Jackson.
Mr. Pierce was the founder and former owner/operator of the Atlanta Steel and Equipment Company of Jonesboro.
Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Alvarene Pierce; son Keith Lucas and brother Roger O”Crowley.
He is survived by his wife Ruby J. Pierce of Fayetteville; daughters Debbie (Clint) Baggett of Glennville and Tina (Vince King) Hinesley of Mt. Juliet, TN; son Michael (Adelle) Pierce of Lothian, MD; grandchildren Henry (Joanie) Hall of Swainsboro, Katherine (Jad) Hall of Reidsville, Kimberly (Todd Truesdale) Hall of Glennville, Olivia Pierce of Baltimore, MD, Amber Hinesley of Smyrna, TN, Ashley Hinesley of Mt. Juliet, TN, Jesse Lucas and Brooke Lucas of Greenville; brother Joey (Debra) O’Crowley of Milner; sisters Pat Holiday of Winder, Sandra (Jimmy) Cannon of Dacula and daughter-in-law Leah (the late Keith) Lucas of Greenville.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 21, 2011, 11 AM in the Chapel of the Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. The Rev. Glenn Stringham will officiate. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, February 20, 2001, 2-5 PM.
