Mrs. Shirley Marie Brown, of Fayetteville, passed away on February 18, 2011 at the age of 85.

Mrs Brown was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was a quiet supporter, and nurtured her family in all aspects of their lives. Shirley enjoyed family time, whether playing cards, sewing for her family and others, dancing, or playing golf, she always knew how to make life fun. She was a member of the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church for over 42 years where she participated in the Women’s Circle and at one time taught public speaking classes.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Wayne Irving Brown, of Fayetteville; children, Pamela Brown Fox and her husband Joseph of Cookeville, TN, Barbara Schottke of Fayetteville, Janice Brown and her husband Edward Birch of Kalamazoo, MI, Michael Brown and his wife Paola of Brooks, Mark Brown and his wife Melissa of Fayetteville, Marcia Bassett and her husband Robert of Loganville; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday February 21, 2011 at 11:00AM at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church with Father John Koziol officiating. Interment will follow at Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Carl J. Mowell & Son, Fayetteville Chapel, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers those desiring are asked to make donations in her honor to the Alzheimers Association or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society in care of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.
