To celebrate National Poetry Month (April, 2011), the Friends of the Peachtree City Library association is sponsoring a poetry contest.

The contest is open to both published and unpublished authors. Cash prizes (minimum $50) will be awarded in two categories: students (enrolled in high school or less than 18) and adults (high school graduate or older than 18).

Entries must be received no later than March 1, 2011. Please note that this is not a postmark date. The complete set of rules is available at the Peachtree City Library or online at the Peachtree City website.

Winners and honorable mentions will be invited, but not required, to read their poems at the Peachtree City Library on Apr. 16.

The program will begin at 1 p.m.with prizes being awarded at that time. Winners names will be posted at the library.

A volume containing winning entries and honorable mentions will be published and sold by the Peachtree City Library, Inc. (Friends of the Library).

The winner in each category will receive a cash prize and a copy of the volume. Honorable mentions will receive a copy of the volume.

Additional copies will be available for sale. Please do not contact the Library directly with inquiries.
