According to the on-line encyclopedia Wikipedia, Valentine’s Day is an annual commemoration celebrating love and affection between intimate companions.  It is traditionally a day when lovers express their love for each other.  The organizers of Fayette Youth Protection Homes’ annual fundraiser, the “Angels Among Us” dinner, dance and auction, are hoping that their benefactors will choose Valentine’s Day weekend to show their love and affection for local area foster children.

The Fayette Youth Protection Homes “Angels Among Us” Dinner-Dance will be held at Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree on Saturday, Feb. 12.
Fayette Youth Protection Homes is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment and supportive services to children and youth who have been the victims of abuse, neglect or other tragic family circumstances.  The group sponsors a community-based foster care program called Grace for Children which arranges placement of children ages birth through 21 into loving private foster care homes. The group owns and supervises the operation of the Friday-Johnson Home; a residential group home located in Brooks, Georgia.

The home provides school-age children protection and healing through a structured and homelike environment, comprehensive services, and most importantly, lots of hugs.

At Gracie’s Closet, children living in foster care on the south side of metro Atlanta shop for clothing, baby gear, books, and school supplies all at the low, low price of nothing.

The “Angels Among Us” dinner dance is a “dress- up” occasion.  Executive Chef Len Elias has chosen a wonderful meal including among other things, an Asiago cheese chicken, baked stuffed shrimp, served with a citrus beurre blanc sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and assorted pastries for dessert.  A special presentation by local artist Todd Little will be a highlight of the evening.  Little will be painting a very special painting during the dinner hour, in front of the dining patrons.  The evening will also have both a silent and live auction of donated goods and services from local sponsors, and dancing to the live music of Second Time Around.

“The entire staff of Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree is excited to have the Angels Among Us Dinner Dance come here.  This is a cause that we all believe in and we are glad to be helping the children who need us the most.” said Catering Sales Manager, Stephanie Bierria.

If you would like to receive an invitation to the Angel’s Amongst Us Dinner Dance or would like to donate an item to the silent auction, please contact Becky Davenport, Executive Director, at 770-461-7020 or via the groups’ website at www.fyph.org.
