Partying doesn’t always pay, at least when the festivities are loud enough to draw complaints. That was the case at Swan Brook Apartments in Fayetteville Dec. 30 when a visit by police resulted in the arrest of 10 underage drinkers.

Fayetteville Police spokesperson Mike Whitlow said officers responded to a loud party complaint in the early morning hours of Dec. 30 and subsequently arrested 10 people for underage possession of alcohol. Fayetteville Police received the call at approximately 2 a.m. at the Swan Brook Apartments off Ga. Highway 54 East, Whitlow said.

Whitlow said that upon their arrival, officers found several people inside and outside the party at 1003 Swan Brook Dr. Officers issued breathalyzer tests to each of the party goers and 10 of the party-goers tested positive for alcohol consumption.

Arrested at the scene were Ashton Frederick Soles, 18, of Tallahassee, Florida; Devin Anthony Bengley, 18, of Fayetteville; Marcus Joseph Gilliam, 18, of Jonesboro; Matthew Dominique Benton, 18, of Jonesboro; Pierre L Bowles Jr., 19, of Fayetteville; Tamara Briana Grissom, 19 of Jonesboro; Moniqua Rowland, 20 of Hampton; Jessica Machelle Swan, 20, of Jonesboro; Terrell Hollis, 20, of Jonesboro. Grissom was also arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Morrow, said Whitlow.

Whitlow said there were five others at the apartment that did not test positive for alcohol.

The suspects were all arrested and turned over to the Fayette County Jail.

Whitlow said the Fayetteville Criminal Investigations Division is also investigating the incident and there may be additional charges forthcoming against the apartment lessee.
