Rosemary Gilmore Beebe, 66, of Fayetteville, died November 29, 2010, after an extended illness.
Born on February 13, 1944 in Clarksville, Tenn., she was the only child of Henry and Evie Morrison Gilmore. It was in Clarksville that Rosemary, in 1964, met Ken, a career soldier stationed at nearby Fort Campbell, Kentucky. A year after his return from Vietnam they were married and began a series of assignments to various posts.
She owned her own brokerage, Rosemary Beebe Real Estate Services, LLC., specializing in commercial properties. Rosemary was an Active Life Member of the Million Dollar Club of the Fayette Board of Realtors. She served on its Commercial & Investment Committee as well as the Partners in Education Committee. A member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors, she was a Life Member of its Million Dollar Club and served on its Member Services Committee. She was a member of both the Georgia Association and National Association of Realtors.
Rosemary was a member of the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce she served on that organization’s Small Business Council and Existing Industry Committee. She was elected by the County Commissioners in 1999 to serve on the five person Fayette County Impact Fee Committee. She maintained her membership in the Metro Fayette Kiwanis Club and served as its Secretary in 2000-2001. She then served as a Director of the Joseph Sams School for two years.
Rosemary was a former member of the Riverdale Presbyterian Church and member of the Stockbridge Presbyterian Church. She was a Life Member of the Clan Morrison Scottish Society of North America, serving on its Scholarship Committee in 1994. She was a founding member of the Clayton County Friends of the Library and at the time of her death a Patron of the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library.
Diagnosed with Cortical Basal Ganglionic Degeneration in December 2005, she was forced by its rapid progression to close her brokerage four weeks later and medically retire.
She is survived by Kenneth, her husband of 43 years, a bookseller and retired U.S. Army Major and son Matthew of Stockbridge.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Susan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
