Bryce Judson Dunaway of Fayetteville, GA , died September 27, 2010 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was born October 30, 1938 in Lubbock, TX to Georgia May (Sanders) Dunaway and Clarence Dunaway. He spent his youth in Mt. Carmel, IL, Hobbs, NM and moved to Odessa, TX in 1955. Bryce attended Northrop A&P School in California and in 1960 started a 41-year career with the airlines. He started as a mechanic, later going to lead mechanic and for the last 31 years of his career, was a safety inspector. He retired from Northwest Airlines in 2001. During his career there were many changes in ownership of the airline. He served in Las Vegas, Washington State and Phoenix, transferring to Atlanta in 1985.
He enjoyed raising thoroughbreds, building and flying RC planes, riding motorcycles, collecting guns, loading his own ammunition, hunting and some fishing. He also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Florida and the Grand Caymans. Bryce was known for his devotion to his family and loved wearing western clothes, listening to western music and line dancing.
Bryce is survived by his wife, Denise; brother C.H. and his wife Balinda, their daughter Michele; sons, Judson and Jess; daughters, Debra and Brenda; three grandsons Tyler, Jordan and Teddy and his wife Becky; two great-granddaughters, Arianna and Arielle. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Terra Ann Parker and his previous wife.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Interment will be on Friday, October 1, 2010 in Scottsdale, AZ.
