Acclaimed by critics as the “Greatest Living Guitarist” and known as the first Latin artist to cross over into the English music market, Jose Feliciano brings his talent to the stage of the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater in Peachtree City on Saturday, Aug. 7 as the final concert in the 2010 BMW of South Atlanta Summer Concert Series.

Feliciano was born blind, to humble beginnings in Puerto Rico and has gone on to span a musical career starting in the 1960’s and still going strong today. Feliciano’s accomplishments include recording over 70 albums in his career, resulting in over forty-five Gold and Platinum records and performing in over 80 countries in every corner of the world. The Recording Academy has recognized his music throughout his career honoring him with eight Grammy awards, and sixteen nominations. In 1996, he was selected to receive Billboard Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award and has even been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Feliciano enjoys writing original music, as well as taking long-time standards and finding a way to make them new. He re-works and re-fashions them with his own style of acoustic guitar and with the vocal inflections of his jazz and American influences that he acquired during his adolescence. Milestone songs for Feliciano include, “Light My Fire”, “Che Sara”, and of course, “Feliz Navidad,” the Christmas song that has now become a tradition worldwide during the holiday season every year. The world has enjoyed many Feliciano songs, including: “Rain”, “Chico and the Man”, “California Dreamin’”, “Destiny”, “Affirmation”, “Ay Cariño”, “Ponte A Cantar”, “Cuando El Amor Se Acaba”, “Porque Te Tengo Que Olvidar?”, and countless others. Feliciano’s contributions to the music industry have been far reaching.
