Richard A. “Bud” Stratton, 95, of Fayetteville, GA, a native of Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2010.

Mr. Stratton was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Gladys Sloan Stratton and his wife Jewel Thompson Stratton and his son Timothy A. Stratton.

Left to celebrate his life are his sons, Richard H. Stratton (Dianne), Locust Grove, GA, Roger A. Stratton (Cindy), Newnan, GA, daughter-in-law, Billie Ann Stratton, Flower Mound, TX, daughter, Marilyn S. Harris (Wayne), Fayetteville, GA. His grandchildren, Kimberly Peek, Richard W. Stratton, Reagan Sayre, Robin Drake, Lindsey Jackson and Kelli Stratton, seven great-grandchildren, brother, Harold Stratton, sisters, Ruth Steckman and Ada Hinkle of Ellwood City and Portersville, PA, many nieces and nephews, loving cousins, family members and friends earned over a lifetime.

Mr. Stratton was a roll turner in US Steel and an auto mechanic until retirement. He was a talented musician and was self-taught on the trumpet, alto sax, and clarinet and played in many orchestras and bands in his younger years. He was choir director and Sunday school superintendent while a member of his church in Pennsylvania. He was currently a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was a very active person until weeks before his death, playing golf regularly. He was a loving father and an inspiration to many during his lifetime.

His life will be celebrated and remembered with a memorial service on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Fayetteville First UMC in Fayetteville, GA as well as a graveside service in Portersville, PA where his cremains will be interred. In lieu of flowers he requested donations be made to Fayetteville First UMC, 175 East Lanier Ave., Fayetteville, GA 30214-1655, 770-461-4313.
