Chris Keaton, 45, passed away on July 21, 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Keaton, his high school sweetheart. Chris also leaves a son, Nathan Hill Keaton, and daughter, Mary Katherine Keaton, parents Carolyn and Byron Keaton, brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Michelle Keaton, brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Shelley Keaton, mother-in-law, Mary Dettmering, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathe and Bobby Anderson, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ellen and Richard Lowe, nieces, nephews, two great nieces, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Chris was a Commercial Development Manager for the Southeast with Pep Boys, Inc. He traveled often and made friends wherever he went. Chris enjoyed several hobbies; one of his most favorite was restoring cars and trucks with his dad and they always had a project in progress. The Keaton “Barn” was a favorite place for Chris as he spent many days working, organizing and just having fun.
He was an avid athlete all of his life, and most recently enjoyed playing church softball. Chris coached Pee Wee Football and Little League Baseball, inspiring many a young persons along the way. Chris was an active member of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, working with the youth group and taught Children’s Sunday School for grades 1-5. Chris loved to live and lived to love. He inspired many through his caring, loving, and gentle ways and had a sense of humor that would make even the worse day good. Chris had a zest for life and never met a stranger.
A dedicated family man, family was always the most important part of his life and he will be remembered for his many “life lessons“and quotes as he always had one ready to share for most situations.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 25th from 2:00-5:00 at C.J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Services will be held on Monday, July 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, with Interment to follow at the Whitlock Cemetery in Peachtree City, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Fayetteville First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
