A vacant site in the Lexington Circle shopping center may soon become a karate studio with other retail shops attached.

Group VI has filed an initial site plan with the Peachtree City Community Development Department. The plan will be discussed by the city’s planning commission in a workshop format at its meeting Monday night, which starts at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

The 2.13 acre site is proposed to have a 13,900 square foot building and once approved will be complete within a year, according to the application filed by Group VI, LLC.

The building would be built on a site that was initially approved several years ago for a retail and loft development. Those plans, like many others in the staggering economy the past few years, never came to fruition.

City planning staff has some concern over the plan to have the buildings face Ga. Highway 54 instead of on the internal roads for the development.

Lexington Circle is located at the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Walt Banks Road.
