Mildred (Mickie) Smyser, 77, of Kokomo, died on Tuesday June 15th, 2010, after a brief illness while visiting her daughter’s home in Georgia. She was born in Clinton County, TN on December 19, 1932 to Floyd and Stella (Turner) Foust.
Mildred married Billy J. Smyser on March 17, 1950, in Kokomo. She graduated from Kokomo High School and had been employed at First National Bank and for the Nassar Cardiology Group in Indianapolis.
She was active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church its St. Anne’s Guild, and the Wives Club of the Reserve Officer’s Association. Mildred was also active in multiple parish activities.
She is survived by her husband Col. Billy Smyser (ret USAR), Kokomo, and her children, son, Michael L. Smyser, West Palm Beach, FL, and daughter Tami (Rick) Babb of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren Holly (Chris) Martindale, Arlington, VA; Sgt. Matthew Palmer, Bagram, Afghanistan, and one great-granddaughter Audrey Mae Martindale; sisters, Inez (John) Garr, Converse; Marilyn (Gordon) Hughes, Pueblo, CO; brother Marvin (Pat) Foust, Kokomo, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carver Foust.
A visitation will be held at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo, from 4pm to 7p.m. on Sunday, June 20.
Funeral services in the main sanctuary will be held at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 602 West Superior Street with Fr. Richard Lightsey officiating on June 21 at 11:00 a.m.
The Consecration of the Grave+ and Committal will be conducted by Fr. Richard Lightsey and Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, Chapel of Love, following the church funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anne’s Women’s Guild at St. Andrew Episcopal Church. Envelopes will be provided at the mortuary on Sunday and at the church of Monday.
