Patsy Joyce Young Whiten of Fayetteville, Ga., formerly of Jackson, Ga., died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at the Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City, Ga.
She was born March 24, 1943, in Butts County, daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Mangham Young. She was wife of the late Fred Shelton Whiten, Sr. who died in 1993.
She attended North Carolina State College and Georgia Tech. Patsy was employed by American Mills and Springs Manufacturing for several years. She presently worked as a child care employee at Fayetteville First Baptist Church where she attended Sunday Class. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and the Jackson Business and Professional Women’s Organization.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Trae (Fred) and Jill Whiten, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Oliver Whiten and Ernest Whiten; sisters, Marion and Ernest Watkins, Griffin, Ga., Lillie Mae Almond, Social Circle, Ga., Shirley Parker, and Brenda and Ricky Johnson all of Jackson; brother, Lee Roy and Terry Young, Jackson; special nieces and nephews, Mike King, Doug King, Lisa Johnson Weaver, Ricky (Peanut) Johnson, Jr., Keaton Weaver and several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services for Patsy Joyce Young Whiten will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson. Rev. Chris Perkins will officiate with interment in the Jackson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:30-8:30PM and at other times at the residence of Lisa Johnson Weaver, 398 Harbourshores Dr., Jackson.
