Two special services are scheduled on April 11 at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City.
The Rust College A’ Cappella Choir will lead worship at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.
Located in Holly Springs, Miss., Rust College is the oldest historically black college in the nation. This choir has won awards for its musicianship, toured Europe twice, sung at two World’s Fairs, and appeared on radio and television. They will sing traditional choral masterpieces as well as Spirituals.
The seventh annual Holocaust Remembrance Service is at 4 p.m. on April 11. The service is planned and sponsored by Christ Our Shepherd and Congregation B’Nai Israel, and both congregations will provide readers and musicians.
Benjamin Hirsch, a renowned architect who is a child survivor of the Holocaust, will be the speaker. The Georgia Singers, a community chorus directed by Dr. Franklin Green, will perform two anthems based on poems by children of the Holocaust. A reception will follow.
The public is invited to both services.
