0Mr. James Leroy Thomas, 73, of Concord, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away on March 30, 2010.
Mr. Thomas retired in 1992, as a sergeant from the city of Fayetteville Police Department and proudly saw his two sons and a grandson follow into law enforcement. He enjoyed his grandchildren and camping. He was a 1956 Fayette County High School graduate and a member of the Tyrone Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Ray Thomas and his brother, Andrew Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte B. Thomas; sons, Jimmy Thomas and his wife Margaret, Jody Thomas and his wife Pamela, all of Concord; grandchildren, Jamie, Jason, Janna, Corey, Jordan, Jacob, Jep and Robin, all of Concord; sister, Geraldine Coile of Jacksonville, FL and his brother, Donald Thomas and his wife Dot of Tyrone.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Wayne Younger and Rev. Ed Lynch officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
