The Starr’s Mill debate team qualified six students for the National Forensics League 2010 national tournament. The students were qualified by taking first or second place in their event at the Georgia Southern Peach District Tournament in Warner Robbins Georgia on Feb. 27.

The qualifiers are Noah Brunner and Austin Russell in Public Forum Debate; Lauren Mattia in U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking; Seyi Amosu and Thomas Olesko in Dramatic Interpretation; and Georgia Brunner in International Extemporaneous Speaking. They will be competing against 3,000 other high school students from throughout the country this June in Kansas City, Missouri.

In addition to the national qualifiers, Starr’s Mill debate team member Hannah Mattia is the 2010 Georgia State Champion for Student Congress which she won at the state debate tournament in February. The Starr’s Mill debate team is coached by Diane Ward and Juliana Wright.
