Built on the philosophy of “people helping people,” Delta Community Credit Union, one of the largest financial institutions in Georgia, stepped up its support to local communities in 2009 with national and local fundraising that complemented its educational programs. Children’s
Healthcare of Atlanta®, American Cancer Society Relay for Life®, five area high schools, Children’s Miracle Network® and others received more than $323,000 in financial donations from the credit union’s 2009 community investment initiatives.
“Our members have been the very foundation of our success since day one, making Delta Community the largest member-owned financial institution in the state,” says Rick Foley, president and CEO of Delta Community.” As such, we are bound by a fundamental responsibility to further serve them by supporting programs and causes that enrich these communities.”
As a not-for-profit cooperative, Delta Community keeps deeply rooted in the communities it serves by being an active participant and source of support through programs that focus on the specific needs of its members. Through local and out-of-state branch fundraising initiatives, Delta Community, in 2009, donated more than more than $56,000 to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, as well as nearly $267,000 to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Among Delta Community’s innovative community programs is Serve and Deserve, an initiative that encourages high school students to give charitably by providing matching in-kind donations to their schools. Collins Hill, Mill Creek, North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge and Walton High Schools participated in the 2009 initiative, making more than $60,000 in donations available to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and Atlanta-based Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research.

About Delta Community Credit Union
Delta Community Credit Union is one of the largest financial institutions in Georgia. It was founded in 1940 and today serves the entire metro Atlanta area, including residents of the 11 surrounding counties and employees of top businesses, such as Delta Air Lines, Chick-fil-A, Yamaha Motor Manufacturing and Racetrac. Delta Community is a state-chartered credit union organized under the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, and its deposit accounts are federally insured through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. It chooses to operate as a not-for-profit credit union so it can give back earnings to its customers and their local communities. Unlike a for-profit bank, Delta Community is owned by its customers, not individual or institutional investors. Customers become member-owners when they open and maintain an account.
