0Vella Mae Benefield, 89, Sharpsburg, formerly of College Park and Thomaston, died Jan. 2, 2010. She and her husband were gospel singers and she often accompanied them on the guitar and the autoharp. She was known for her generosity and for never saying an unkind word. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Dusty Washington officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include daughters, Devonia and Roy Caldwell, Palmetto, Gwendolyn and Tommy Garrett, Sharpsburg, and Linda and Houston Norman, Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
