The Konos Academy Condors will have home school volleyball tryouts on Friday, April 24, from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. at the Heritage Christian Church gym, 2130 Redwine Road, Fayetteville

Additional times are available by appointment.

Any home schooled girls age 10 by August through 12th grade can tryout for the 2015 season.

Last year, Konos middle school and varsity volleyball teams went to the final four in Division 3. Coach for 2015-16 is Tamara Lauer, who played college volleyball at Clayton State University and is a long-time resident of Fayette County.

Konos Academy plays volleyball against Christian schools and home school teams with the Georgia Independent Christian Athletic Association, the second largest school league in the state.

Konos plans to offer Cross Country (fall), boys and girls basketball (winter) and boys and girls soccer (spring) for the next school year.

Playing in a school league gives home schoolers opportunities to be seen and considered for college athletic scholarships. Two Konos graduates are currently playing college sports on full scholarships.

The Konos Volleyball team is offering a summer camp June 22-26 in the mornings at Heritage Christian Church gym for girls age 9 and older. This camp is geared to beginners. For more information on the camp, contact Coach Spears at danaspears110@gmail.com.

To attend tryouts on April 24, or to schedule another time for a tryout, contact coach Lauer at hoegger.tamara@gmail.com. Please wear shorts and athletic shoes. No experience is necessary, but previous experience with tennis or softball is excellent preparation for volleyball.

Konos is an accredited home-school hybrid academy in Fayetteville offering academics, arts, and sports. Home schooled students can enroll in the Konos core humanities program or take individual classes through Konos Plus. Home schoolers can play sports for Konos without enrolling in any Konos classes. Konos offers many fundraisers to help cover sports fees. For more information on Konos programs go to www.konos.org or email for information at info@konos.org.
