The Senoia Area Historical Society is opening its doors at 6 Couch Street today at 7 p.m. for an evening of fun and frivolity. At 11 a.m. today, the Fayette County Public Library hosts a free presentation by Victoria Wilcox, author of the historical fiction trilogy, “Southern Son: The Saga of Doc Holliday.” Wilcox will give a talk titled “Gone with the Wind Goes West: The Surprising Southern Heritage of Doc Holliday.” Copies of “Inheritance,” the first book of the trilogy, will be available for sale at the event, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library. The Piedmont Newnan Hospital Auxiliary is holding its 26th Candlelight Tour of Homes Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. This year’s tour will be highlighting five homes in the Historic Greenville-LaGrange district in Newnan. Proceeds from the event will be directed towards a $150,000 pledge for the establishment of a Healing Garden at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. This unique garden and water feature will be located to the right of the hospital’s front entrance with views from the chapel. It will serve as a refuge of beauty, peace, and serenity for the community, patients, and staff. Tickets for this annual event go on sale November 8. Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is today at the historic American Legion “Log Cabin”, 180 S. Glynn St. in Fayetteville near the Old County Court House. The holidays are right around the corner! The city of Newnan’s annual Christmas parade is today beginning at 3 p.m. A major change has been made this year on the parade route, specifically the location to begin. The parade will start on Greenville Street below Salbide Street and follow Greenville Street into downtown, left onto North Court Square, right onto LaGrange Street and then continue to Newnan High School where it will disband.It’s “A Winter Wonderland” so bring on your magical snow! The parade will include floats, walking groups, decorated cars and trucks, and marching bands.
