A Peachtree City woman lost her life in a May 12 plane crash in Calhoun County, Alabama.
Stefanie Smith Fasselin, 27, died in the plane crash that occurred east of Jacksonville, Ala., according to news reports. Stefanie was a graduate of Starr’s Mill High School and an employee of Delta Airlines.
According to abc3340.com, the crash occurred at approximately 8 p.m., with witnesses reporting that the Beech BE-35 caught fire in mid-air before falling to the ground.
Reports noted that Fasselin’s father, Kevin Smith, the plane’s pilot, survived and was transported to a Huntsville hospital.
Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade said the plane was having engine trouble and was attempting to find a safe place to land, according to news reports.
Calhoun County is located in northeast Alabama.
