Volunteer committee members and Christian City staff gathered recently for the 2015 “Chair-ity Event” kickoff meeting. Plans are underway for the 9th annual holiday fundraiser to take place Thursday, Dec. 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Dolce in Peachtree City.

Proceeds from the event support the abandoned, abused, and otherwise homeless children who now live safely in the cottages at The Children’s Village. Event tickets are $30 in advance, and can be purchased at https://christiancity.org/special-events/chair-ity-event/

“Last year, this community event raised over $100,000 for our kids,” said Phil Kouns, COO of The Children’s Village. “We are very grateful to the dedicated volunteer committee members, sponsors, community leaders, artists and attendees who come together to make this event successful each year. Without the community support we receive, we could not provide the care that our kids need.”

This year’s silent auction will include donated items such as getaway trips, themed baskets, collectibles, and more. Local artists, plus the children at The Children’s Village, are already working on handcrafted, one-of-a-kind painted chairs which are always the highlight of the “Chair-ity” event.

“We are looking forward to seeing the unique chairs created for the auction this year,” said Janet McGregor Dunn, 2015 Artist Chair. “We also appreciate the businesses who donate items and services to the silent auction. It is a great place to find special holiday gifts for friends and family,” says Dunn.

Evening business attire is the appropriate dress for this drop-in event, and the $30 admission ticket covers both food and drink. “We hope you’ll stop by for delicious hors d’oeuvres and refreshments, a live performance by the Peachtree Pops Jazz Ensemble, and some holiday shopping in our magical Winter Wonderland setting,” said Ashley Bonner, director of fund development at Christian City.

For the first time, the Chair-ity Event will also include a raffle drawing for a new SUV provided by Lexus of South Atlanta. Southside Rotary Clubs have come together to raise money for The Children’s Village by raffling a Lexus NX 200t. Raffle tickets may be purchased now at www.rotarycares4kids.org and the drawing will take place at the Chair-ity event Dec. 3. A maximum of 3,000 tickets will be sold at $25 each or 5 for $100.
