Southside Theatre Guild in Fairburn will present three performances of “The Mountaintop,” by Katori Hall, January 17-19. The play, a re-imagining of the final hours of Dr. Martin Luther King’s life, is a fundraiser for the theater’s Keep Us Covered roof fund.

On April 3, 1968, after delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside.  When a mysterious stranger arrives with some surprising news, King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy to his people. The production contains content not suitable for children ages 12 and under.

Showtimes for “The Mountaintop” are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, January 17 and 18, and 2:30 p.m. January 19. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased on-line at stgplays.com or at the door.
