China hypocrisy

Now that the Biden administration seems to be letting China off the hook for causing and then covering up the Covid-19 pandemic, shouldn’t our illustrious press be at all curious about possible conflicts of interest between the Biden family and China, especially since those conflicts are not conspiracy theories but consist of clearly available public knowledge?

To recap as succinctly as possible, Hunter Biden took six trips to China on Air Force 2 with his father while Joe was VP. Hunter’s company took a financial interest in a Chinese investment company and he personally had dealings with several of China’s most prominent businessmen, all of whom are also leading figures in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

If one wants to follow the money, it is difficult. The details of how much money flowed directly from Chinese sources to Hunter and the Biden family is impossible to track because it is being hidden.

Detailed studies of available records by the Wall Street Journal and the U.S. Senate show that millions of dollars in “fees” made its way to one of Hunter’s companies. It would be the height of intentional naïveté to assume Hunter, his uncle James Biden, and Joe Biden himself did not receive significant sums from the Chinese as a result of Joe Biden’s political office and the machinations of his pathetic son.

It’s a blatant case of corruption that has somehow gone unreported by most of the press and seems not to trouble the same people who spent millions of dollars investigating Trump for his purported ties to Russia.

Speaking of that case, it was based primarily on the Steele Dossier, which was commissioned by the Democratic National Committee and charged that while Trump was in Moscow in December of 2013, he was somehow turned into an agent by KGB spies or hookers or whatever.

Trump was in Moscow for the Miss Universe pageant, but arrived shortly before it began and left soon after it ended. The big “smoking gun” was that Trump told James Comey that he didn’t spend the night even though private plane records indicated a possible next-day departure. No passenger names were listed and so there’s no firm proof. But that little one-day or maybe one-night stay prompted the Democrats to accuse Trump of colluding with the Russians to influence the election, among other things.

The evidence was always thin and highly circumstantial, but because the Democrats could not psychologically accept the Trump victory over their gal Hillary, they pursued the investigation nonetheless with breathless assertions of their desire to protect the integrity of the US presidency and the US itself.

Can you imagine if one of Trump’s sons had flown to Russia 6 times and came away with lucrative business deals WHILE TRUMP WAS IN OFFICE what the Dems would have done? Their heads would have exploded in righteous rage.

But that’s pretty much what their guy did and now that he’s playing it very soft with his “old friend” President Xi, no one in the press raises an eyebrow.

Unbelievable. The hypocrisy is so thick it couldn’t be cut by a chainsaw.

If Democrats and liberals wonder why we conservatives don’t trust a single word uttered by the press and their friends in the Democratic party, this is why.

But it’s not just frustrating and incredibly unfair. It’s VERY BAD for our country and for our democracy. When the various institutions designed to ensure accountable governance and root out corruption fail so massively to do their job, then one can only conclude that corruption runs rampant and that the only thing to do when it comes to attempts to rule by the Democrats is to RESIST and DISMISS because they simply have no legitimacy.

Fortunately for them, conservatives tend to support the system even if it fails them time and again and will not carry on like the crybabies on the left did after Trump won. We will go to work, pay our taxes, try to be good people, and pray that our system regains its dignity even as the Democrats and the media try to tear it down.

  1. My favorite part of Trey’s rant this week is …

“When the various institutions designed to ensure accountable governance and root out corruption fail so massively to do their job, then one can only conclude that corruption runs rampant and that the only thing to do when it comes to attempts to rule by the [Democrats] is to RESIST and DISMISS because they simply have no legitimacy.”

Because I agree with him: attempts to ensure accountable governance and root out corruption failed again and again during the Trump administration because the GOP stood together to prevent justice from being done! When our president illegally withheld aid already earmarked for Ukraine, demanding they do him a personal/political favor first and fling mud at Joe Biden, the GOP majority refused to allow anyone to hold him accountable. When the defeated president fomented insurrection and urged an attack on the capitol, the GOP majority again refused to hold him accountable. When he broke with tradition and used his office to personally enrich his family and businesses, the GIP majority refused to … well, you get the picture.

Trey is right: corruption is rampant and must be rooted out in order to assure accountable governance … but only he doesn’t see corruption when it’s on his side the other aisle.

And of course I agree with Suz and Stranger (below) …

  2. If Hunter Biden broke any laws or implicated his father in violating the emoluments clause, they should be prosecuted by the Department of Justice. Trump’s Attorneys General had four years to investigate and bring any legitimate charges against any of the Bidens.

Instead of a fact-based prosecution, Biden has already been tried and convicted in the nutcase media from which Trey gleans all of this “facts.” Just like the asinine charges asserted by the 45th president of election fraud, if you can’t prove your allegations with facts in a court of law, you’re a double loser.

    Put up or shut up!

  3. Mr. Hoffman–
I am bemused at your assertion–
“…conservatives tend to support the system even if it fails them time and again and will not carry on like crybabies on the left did after Trump won.” Really?

What about The Big Lie (which the ex-president is still asserting)? The desperate calls for endless recounting of votes? Filing unmerited lawsuits? Storming the Capitol in an attempt to overthrow the election? Passing Jim Crow laws in an obvious attempt to restrict votes? (Obvious in it’s timing, if nothing else).

Like a Democrat “crybaby”, I did shed more than a few tears over the election of Donald Trump. And even more over the four years of his term.

But no, we did not tear down the system, as you say.
We worked within it; and we voted…and it worked.
It was an inspiring thing to witness.
Viewed through tears of joy this time!

    • Suz – Your comments are directly on point.

Trey lives in an alternate reality in which inconvenient truth is simply dismissed. Besides the valid points you listed, Ms. Clinton both acknowledged Trump’s victory and attended his inauguration in 2017. The real crybaby has yet to admit his defeat in 2020 and was such a coward that he refused to attend the 46th President’s inauguration.

Of course Trey is a simpleton, but the last paragraph of this letter represents a new level of denial even for him.

      Truth is stranger than fiction.

      • Stranger–
Always appreciate what you add to the conversations; I’ve been missing your thoughts on several letters lately.

I know we are all guilty of selective memory; I am doubtless one of the worst.

However I still cringe at the childish snub of the Bidens when the departing president and first lady broke protocol by refusing to
welcome them to the White House.
This churlishness after the gracious treatment they received by the Obama’s four years earlier.

(At least that is how I recall the events!)
