A home in the Whispering Pines mobile home park was heavily damaged by a fire reported shortly after 2 p.m. this afternoon.
When the first fire crew arrived, the unit was fully engulfed in flames, said Lt. Donnie Davis of the Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
The firefighters were able to successfully contain the flames so they didn’t spread into a nearby adjacent wooded area, Davis said.
No one was injured in the incident, as both the occupant and her dog were safe and sound, Davis said. Due to difficult terrain on the dirt road leading to the unit, the fire pumper truck had to stop short and use a longer line to reach the blaze, Davis noted.
The victim does have another place to stay in the area and was being cared for by her family, Davis said.
